1.   A new species of worm, dubbed the iceworm, that lives off chunks of methane ice has been found on the floor of the Gulf of Mexico.

2.   Fisher, Arp and Julian believe the worms may graze on bacteria they find in the methane ice, or perhaps the bacteria live healthily inside the worms.

3.   The Cancri disk may contain methane ice, which is found among objects in the Kuiper belt.

4.   With the methane discovery, they pieced together a scenario that could bring warm water to the ocean bottom and melt the methane ice.
