1.   Outside the financial-services industry, some companies that make drugs to treat AIDS-related illnesses also have been buffeted recently.

2.   The whole medical profession is based on drugs, and the drugs are all made artificially.

3.   Amgen spokesman David Kaye said the company plans to transfer its manufacture of Epogen to Longmont from its Thousand Oaks headquarters, where the drug is now made.

4.   American Home is primarily a maker of over-the-counter remedies like Advil but also makes drugs like Premarin, a hormone-replacement treatment.

5.   And because more prescription drugs are made and sold in the United States than in any other country, the thought of regulation is especially troubling to the companies.
