1.   Charter schools are set up with specific mission statements and learning goals and can lose their charters if they do not achieve the goals they set.

2.   Four years ago the national organization opened the group to women, but some chapters are still holding out, even with the threat of losing their charter.

3.   If they fail, they lose their charters.

4.   They also are required to maintain high levels of student achievement and to practice sound fiscal policies or risk losing their charters.

5.   If the board still finds problems, the school will lose its charter and become a district school again.
