1.   Any remaining leaves will appear yellow and sickly.

2.   Fertilize with a diluted liquid fertilizer like fish emulsion after two leaves appear, and weekly thereafter.

3.   Houston-area winters are usually short, too, and new leaves will appear with warmer days.

4.   If the leaves appear healthy and turgid, the plant is simply beaming with joy.

5.   Leaves appear in late spring, just after you are convinced it is dead.

6.   Leaves will appear and grow until April, when the plant goes dormant.

7.   New leaves will often appear, particularly if weak fertilizer is given regularly to help.

8.   The leaves appear to be alive, but no growth is evident.

9.   The leaves will appear before too long, the flowers in about two months.

10.   To this day I feel a flutter in my heart and there is a gleam in my eye when the first leaves of summer appear on the trees.
