1.   It may be held in place by two small bolts or by one large nut.

2.   On some of those planes, mechanics found metal shavings from a large nut that rides up and down the jackscrew as it moves the stabilizer.

3.   Then he tossed in what looked like a couple of large nuts.

4.   Then unscrew and take off the large packing nut around the stem by using a wrench to turn it counterclockwise until you can slide it off.
