1.   Barring the reserved forests and parks, only Buddhist temples are allowed to keep elephants.

2.   Efforts to keep the elephants at bay failed.

3.   Ghiazza was allowed to keep the elephants in the interim.

4.   Instead of keeping the elephants from going into heat, the estrogen patches kept them in constant heat.

5.   The elephant has been kept away from visitors at the Singapore Zoological Gardens Night Safari park since the attack last July.

6.   The international animal rights organization, People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, had threatened to organize a tourist boycott if Ghiazza was allowed to keep the elephants.

8.   The government has provided radios and weapons to anti-poaching squads and forest officers as well as barriers to keep elephants inside forests but the situation remains alarming.
