1. Before its discovery Friday in Arizona, karnal bunt had never been found in the United States. 2. Agricultural officials directing the emergency response to the outbreak of karnal bunt said that they will be looking for additional funding from the Legislature and the U.S. Congress. 3. But the USDA announced Wednesday that other varieties of wheat growing in Arizona now are being tested for karnal bunt. 4. It has asked for certification from the United States that grain shipped there is from areas free of karnal bunt. 5. It is not known what the discovery of karnal bunt will do to the latest wheat sale to the country. 6. Spores, which allow fungi to reproduce, were found on the outside of the kernels, but they have not been confirmed as karnal bunt. 7.
