1.   Authorities are not sure how the immigrants got past primary checkpoints along the border.

2.   A century ago, Irish and German immigrants got a lift to the middle class from jobs in municipal agencies.

3.   After that, immigrants could get food stamps only if they applied for U.S. citizenship.

4.   But even where there is room in class, some immigrants cannot get there.

5.   But many note as well that the immigrants often get poor information about where they are going.

6.   But in many cases, immigrants get less money or must meet residency requirements that exclude them.

7.   Currently those immigrants must only get a chest X-ray to check for active cases and get treated before they come.

8.   Immigrants could still get emergency medical care under Medicaid.

9.   In response to new laws making it harder for immigrants to get public assistance, more Dominicans are becoming citizens, registering to vote, and voting.

10.   More will be spent trying to stop illegal immigration and fewer legal immigrants will get public benefits.
