1. And, it causes ice dams on a few unfortunate abodes. 2. Big, long icicles hanging from the eaves are not necessarily a sign of ice dams. 3. I am concerned about ice dams. 4. I have no icicles and no ice dam, but the snow must be three feet deep on my roof. 5. On houses with cold roofs, that melting occurs from the top down, without ice dams. 6. On houses with warm roofs, the melting occurs from the bottom up, creating the ice dam. 7. And no matter how well it and the ducts are insulated, that furnace will make the attic warm, which can cause ice dams in winter. 8. And, to get air moving in that space, there should be soffit and ridge vents, something that will prevent future ice dams. 9. Another fix will not stop ice dams but might stop the leaks. |
