1.   Mecham denied the accusations and said the floor nomination was a surprise to him.

2.   The vote, however, has him wondering whether he should seek re-election through a floor nomination at the meeting.

3.   He noted the ANC was the only political party in the country, and perhaps the world, that allowed such floor nominations at national conventions.

4.   The ANC was expected to change its rules on Tuesday to make it more difficult for Madikizela-Mandela to get the floor nomination.
