1.   As the sun broke through the low overcast over western Washington Tuesday, a flood watch was issued for the coast.

2.   Besides the strange arctic warmth, central Alaska has had flood watches and warnings without any rain falling.

3.   A combination of thunderstorms, flood watches and as much as two inches of rain gave Newport that English summer ambiance.

4.   By noon, though, even though a flood watch continued throughout much of the coastal region and into the Central Texas Hill Country, the waters were receding.

5.   By Thursday afternoon, the National Weather Service had issued a flood watch, tropical storm warning and hurricane watch for Palm Beach County.

6.   Forecasters issued a flood watch for all of Florida south of Daytona Beach due to heavy rains and high tides.

7.   It was first billed as a tropical depression, bringing heavy rains and a flood watch.

8.   Nevertheless, a flood watch was in effect Wednesday for rivers and streams in the southern Sierra Nevada.

9.   Parts of Florida also were under flood watches.

10.   The National Weather Service issued a flash flood watch for west-central Georgia and a flood watch for the southwest part of the state.
