1.   In one feeding centre the room for the dead had become a Koranic school for young children.

2.   International and local aid workers have set up five feeding centres supplying cooked rations of corn soya blend and bulgar wheat twice a day.

3.   Although supplies have been getting through since the beginning of October hundreds of emaciated children continue to flood into the feeding centres set up by aid agencies.

4.   At the AICF therapeutic feeding centre, children aged between two and five lay helpless on mattresses strewn across the floor, awaiting urgent medical care and food.

5.   The situation in these areas has deteriorated since the arrival of winter snows, which are making it harder for Afghans in isolated areas to reach feeding centres.
