1.   In May, India launched a campaign to evict the guerrillas, most of whom left after India and Pakistan agreed to halt fighting two weeks ago.

2.   But before withdrawing, it wants to discuss security arrangements, such as turning over control to the Lebanese army and evicting Hezbollah guerrillas from the region.

3.   India has launched a ground attack to evict Islamic guerrillas in the Kargil sector of India-held Kashmir.

4.   India said Saturday it could evict Islamic guerrillas within a week from the Indian-controlled territory in Kashmir.

5.   In the meantime, Indian military operations to evict the guerrillas will continue.

6.   Since then, India has been bombarding the snowcapped peaks from the air and has advanced on the ground to evict the guerrillas.

7.   Since mid-May, Indian forces have fought to evict Islamic guerrillas holed up in Himalayan redoubts inside Indian-controlled territory in Kashmir.
