1. An interim engine formula for the next two seasons was announced Sunday by Hal Whiteford, president of operations for the Championship Auto Racing Teams FedEx Series. 2. Because the two sanctioning bodies operate under different chassis and engine formulas, CART owners would have to purchase separate equipment at a huge cost. 3. But Ford Racing executive Greg Specht said some type of engine equivalency formula might allow the two leagues to race together at Indianapolis next year. 4.
