1.   Tullberg and Hickman spot dust plumes ahead and to the left, marking enemy tanks that have advanced within several thousand meters.

2.   By summer, thunderstorms change the circulation, disrupting the large dust plumes and raining out much of the pollution.

3.   Researchers hoped that ultraviolet radiation, shining through the dust plume from the crash, would bear the spectral signature of water.

4.   Using NASA satellites to track the African dust clouds, they were able to take air samples both on clear days and days with dust plumes affecting the region.
