1.   A lightweight tack hammer is designed for driving small nails and brads.

2.   Fasten all but the final piece by driving nails through the tongues into the nailing strips.

3.   Milled-face hammers are good for driving galvanized nails because the rough face pattern will not rub the galvanized coating off the nails.

4.   Nailers capable of driving galvanized roofing nails or wide-crown roofing staples are also available.

5.   Predrill the nail holes to make driving nails easier, and to avoid jarring the rafter out of position.

6.   Put the window back into the opening and tack it in place by driving finishing nails through the trim into the wall.

7.   Position the vent on the peak then fasten it down by driving gasketed roofing nails through the mounting flanges.

8.   Secure the stakes by driving nails through them into the sides of the border boards.

9.   This is good for driving nails flush with the wood, but bad for a hammerer with poor aim.
