1.   Both state-run banks will lower interest paid on deposits by a greater amount than the cut in borrowing rates.

2.   That may quell expectations that Chancellor of the Exchequer Kenneth Clarke will authorize a cut in interest rates when he meets Bank of England Governor Eddie George next week.

3.   The central bank last cut rates on Wednesday.

4.   The Fed last cut rates in July.

5.   Traders are, however, expected to add to their dollar holdings on the off-chance the German central bank cuts rates this week.

6.   The Fed cut rates last week, and while the market was looking for another rate reduction later this month, the data could make that less likely.
