1.   Kuchma has acknowledged, however, that some issues concerning the Crimean port remain unresolved.

2.   The Russian navy will be able to use fleet facilities in other Crimean ports, to be agreed on later, the two sides said.

3.   But Kiev insists that Russia will only be allowed use of one Crimean port and wants to retain Sevastopol exclusively for the Ukrainian fleet.

4.   The Russian element would continue to be based at the Crimean port, which Ukraine would lease to Russia.

5.   Russia and Ukraine have agreed to divide up the powerful armada, which has its own home base in the Crimean port city of Sevastopol.

6.   The Black Sea Fleet has been based in the Crimean port city since the days of the former Soviet Union.
