2.   Bateman almost claimed a try with three minutes to go when he chased a kick forward by Jenkins.

3.   English forwards claimed a try when lock Martin Johnson got over the line but South African referee Teppa Henning ruled he had not grounded the ball legally.

4.   Flyhalf Andrew Mehrtens claimed a try and kicked a penalty and three conversions, while Lomu and fellow wing Jeff Wilson also scored tries.

5.   Former All Black John Timu and Daryl Halligan claimed tries and Halligan kicked three goals.

6.   Winger Luke Sweeney claimed five tries, although this match was also notable as Romania scored their first points of the tournament.

7.   Piet Muller and Johnson claimed the tries, but within three minutes Australian Pat Howard sent Simon Geoghegan in for the try.
