1.   Few hospitals, in Georgia or nationwide, are equipped to safely take care of patients contaminated by chemicals, CDC said.

2.   The chemicals contaminated sediments all along the river, and were taken up in the body fat of animals from one end of the food chain to the other.

3.   The toxic chemicals not only contaminate fish and shellfish, causing restrictions on consumption, but also contaminate the sediment, limiting the options for its disposal.

4.   Washington contends it has done that, and is now balking at paying for the cleanup of the bases, whose chemicals are contaminating the groundwater.

5.   Authorities said the chemicals could contaminate the ground and sea, emit dangerous gases and cause an explosion.

6.   No American has been reported injured yet, but the FDA worried that the chemical might have contaminated other products still on the market.
