1. A pet can carry the toxin on its fur and transfer it to you or the furniture you sit on. 2. A recent laboratory study, for example, showed that corn pollen engineered to carry a toxin against the European corn borer can kill monarch butterflies. 3. Some of the declining species breed in bodies of water too small to support fish, and toads carry toxins that keep them safe from fish predation. 4. The number of bacteria which can carry the toxin is increasing, as is the number of infections and deaths worldwide. 5. Then, the red blood cells carry the toxins to the liver, where they are destroyed. 6. Their fruits carry enough toxin to prevent rotting, but not so much that animals avoid them altogether. |
