1.   Each bulb will send up many single stems staggered over a six-to-eight-week period.

2.   In winter, the bulb sends up a clump of strappy, dark green leaves.

3.   They will die in a cold snap, and those bulbs will not send up more flowers next spring.

4.   When spring delivers the correct mixture of rain and warmth, the bulb sends up shoots, using its food reserves to make stems, leaves and flower buds.
