1.   Abandoned buildings rotted, and the roof on the building across the street from the Opera House leaked so badly that rainfall seemed almost the same inside as out.

2.   Snakes, opossums and wasps took up residence, until the wind blew off roofs and ripped off siding and the buildings rotted.

3.   The daubing is one reason the building is rotting.

4.   Many other colonial buildings have rotted or burned down.
