1.   Although their characters have emotionally charged moments, much of the time Laurie and Richardson bring a tone of airy drawing-room comedy to their roles.

2.   And since color dyes fade at differing rates, it is up to the individual restorer to bring tones back into balance.

3.   Countertenor Lawrence Zazzo brought ripe tones to the role of Athamas, but his lower notes wanted more heft.

5.   Soprano Deborah Voigt brought lustrous tone but only occasional fire to the title role.
