1.   I tried opening it with the knife but the blade bent.

2.   Constant or frequent cutting with the coping saw eventually causes the blade to bend and break.

3.   Current is then applied in the alternate direction, making the blades bend the other way.

4.   The back saw has to be stiff and heavy, or the blade would bend and cramp on the push stroke.
