1.   An Oregon judge has issued a preliminary injunction on the release of the birth records until the legal issues are resolved.

2.   Birth records were often changed so the children grew up thinking they were with their natural parents.

3.   A report in the Mirror newspaper in London said birth records show a man with the same name and birth year had been born in East London.

4.   California is not the only state with such loose restrictions on access to birth records.

5.   Government officials said companies read newspaper announcements, buy mailing lists, or tap into public documents like birth records, for leads.

6.   However, the notion still remains enshrined in law that the birth records should be sealed in perpetuity.

7.   However, police have no proof because the fundamentalists file no birth records and do not use hospitals or doctors.

8.   If everything is funneled through computers, and if computers can be sabotaged, then so can our bank accounts, our birth records, our lives.

9.   If the measure is upheld, the state should set up some way to notify birth mothers that an adult child has sought the birth record.
