1.   The bill would permit workers twelve weeks of unpaid leave for family emergencies.

2.   In a major departure from tradition the bill also permitted women pilots to fly combat missions, subject to the agreement of the air force and the navy.

3.   Both bills also permit farmers to plant virtually any crop they wish without forfeiting their right to federal subsidies.

4.   Both bills would permit the use of phones that are not hand-held, like speaker phones and phones with separate earphones.

5.   But Republicans said their biggest fear was that the bill would permit a flood of costly lawsuits against employers who manage health benefits for their employees.

6.   Even more important, the bill permits workers with disabilities to keep their Medicaid and Medicare benefits while they are employed.

7.   If signed by the governor, the bill will permit California tracks to import full-card simulcasts from out of state.
