1.   As the presidential campaign entered its bell lap last week, the Justice Department began cranking up reviews of Democratic fund-raising practices.

2.   A trials jury reviewed videotape of the race and concluded that Thorsett had illegally tried to pass Wysocki on the inside at the start of the bell lap.

3.   Krummenacker ran near the back of the pack most of the race and made his move just before the bell lap.

4.   Steve Holman of the United States went to the front early, but got tangled up and fell early in the bell lap.
