1.   After talks with Prime Minister John Major, he said he supported a partial lifting of the beef ban.

9.   The U.K. only called off the protest three months later, when EU leaders agreed on conditions for removing the beef ban.

10.   The World Trade Organization authorized the United States earlier this year to retaliate by imposing high tariffs on European delicacies and luxury goods to retaliate against the beef ban.
