1.   Nottingham Boat Club won another thrilling final when they beat the holders Neptune of Ireland in the Thames Cup, the third-ranking eight-oared event.

2.   Blazevic dropped seven players from the team which convincingly beat holders Denmark in Sheffield last Sunday.

3.   The shield can be taken by any team that beats the holder and Canterbury must now face five challengers from the first division this season.

4.   Sweden, coached by Englishman George Raynor, rode the support of the home fans into the final by beating holders West Germany in the last four.
