1.   A defiant Iraq expelled six American arms monitors Thursday, prompting the United Nations to withdraw its inspectors and bringing U.S. promises of consequences.

2.   In Baghdad, arms inspection monitors were again barred from entering sites they wanted to investigate because there were Americans on the team.
