1.   If the mixture appears too dry, add more buttermilk as needed.

2.   If the hash appears too dry, add a little of the reserved cooking liquid, to taste.

3.   If hair appears too dry, rub a small dab of petroleum jelly on your hands and through your hair.

4.   When it appears dry, touch the surface.
