2.   This master curve is typical of those obtained on a number of amorphous polymers and to be found in the literature.

3.   When an amorphous polymer is mixed with a suitable solvent, it disperses in the solvent and behaves as though it too is a liquid.

4.   The former are characteristic of amorphous polymers, and illustrate that a limited amount of short range order exists in most polymeric solids.

5.   This allows the onset of molecular motion in amorphous polymers to take place at temperatures below the melting temperature of such crystallites.
