1.   That accord has been agreed by negotiators from the Japanese government and the U.S. departments of State and Transportation.

2.   The three Bosnian parties already have agreed an accord on building confidence, which involves mutual inspections of weapons and army units.

3.   Those sanctions were mostly lifted when Milosevic agreed the Bosnian peace accord last fall.

4.   There was however no commitment to accelerating the programme of tariff cuts agreed under the Uruguay Round accords.

5.   Two other EU states, Germany and the Netherlands, have already agreed the accords with the US.

6.   US Secretary of State Warren Christopher also held out the prospect of the deployment of US ground forces in Bosnia should a peace accord be agreed.

7.   Russian President Boris Yeltsin said in a statement last month that the alliance should first agree an accord with Russia before embarking on its planned expansion.

8.   The clashes, which erupted late afternoon, were the heaviest since a ceasefire accord was agreed for the Bosnian capital in February.
