1.   A majority of senators, setting an admirable example of responsible leadership, wisely refused to convict President Clinton after House Republican zealots impeached him.

2.   But the Haiti operation, at least so far, is an admirable example of how diplomacy backed by power can succeed.

3.   California sets an admirable example for the nation by moving ahead with legislation that will help deter discrimination against gays in public and private life.

4.   Two giants have set an admirable example for other nations, big and small, and for their own future relations.

5.   With such admirable examples around me, how could I not attempt to scribble things that were at least vaguely intelligent?
