1.   The tape has an adhesive backing.

2.   Some felt or rubber strips come with adhesive backing, but usually they are tacked in place with a hammer.

3.   The adhesive backing is strong enough to stick to walls without buckling and can be removed without chipping paint.

4.   The Y-shape piece of plastic mounts with adhesive backing under the toilet seat, with a handle sticking out a few inches.
