61.   Incidents of serious violence continued in ethnically mixed eastern areas.

62.   In addition, the government insisted that until there was a ceasefire agreement, the current counterinsurgency operations would continue in every region where the guerrillas were active.

63.   The peace accord between the government, the ANC and Inkatha came under serious threat in October, as township violence continued in the Transvaal and Natal.

64.   Negotiations continued in Pretoria during October.

65.   Fighting continued in Yugoslavia during November, principally in Croatia but also including, for the first time, attacks on Serbian territory.

66.   Fighting continued in January between guerrillas of the Front for the Restoration of Unity and Democracy and troops loyal to President Hassan Gouled Aptidon.

67.   Civil disobedience continued in many cities in western Georgia.

68.   As war continued in Bosnia-Hercegovina, the Serbian-dominated new Federal Republic of Yugoslavia was internationally ostracized, culminating in UN-imposed sanctions.

69.   Protests continued in June in Belgrade as students staged anti-Milosevic marches.

70.   Concerning current problems, the ministers declared themselves profoundly disturbed by the violence and destruction which continues in various areas of the Euro-Atlantic region.
