31. I used Citristrip, and sanded to the bare wood, but it is discolored. 32. If scraping exposed bare wood, apply a primer before caulking. 33. If the black spots do not disappear with the bleach treatment, then rinse, sand the spots to the bare wood, restain and revarnish. 34. If there are any trim pieces with exposed bare wood, be sure to prime and paint them before the cold really sets in. 35. If not, the stain has to be sanded to the bare wood and the spot refinished. 36. If you want to keep the wood looking natural, you have to remove the old finish, usually by sanding, to the bare wood. 37. If the paint is peeling to bare wood, you can know that moisture is the cause. 38. If used on bare wood, any kind of semi-permanent glue is going to leave some residue which would have to be cleaned off before regluing. 39. If it were not finished, that would be OK, too, but the only way to clean bare wood is to sand it to reveal new wood. 40. If you want a finish of some sort, rinse the bleach off the top, let dry, then sand the top to the bare wood. |
