21.   Indonesian President Suharto opened an annual meeting of ASEAN economic ministers here Thursday with a warning against the inclusion of non-tariff issues on the multilateral trade agenda.

22.   ASEAN won the backing of Australia and New Zealand on Friday in its fight to keep controversial non-tariff issues such as labour rights out of the multilateral trade agenda.

23.   European Commission vice-president Leon Brittan called Thursday for Europe and Asia to work together to set the multilateral trade agenda.
