21.   Apply a coat of latex enamel undercoater, and finish with two coats of an eggshell finish latex wall paint.

22.   Apply one coat of a latex enamel undercoater and finish with one or two coats of an eggshell or flat finish latex wall paint.

23.   Apply one coat of enamel undercoater and finish off with a latex wall paint.

24.   Apply one coat of semitransparent stain instead of paint.

25.   Apply one coat of the enamel undercoater.

26.   Apply one coat of water-based paint and let dry.

27.   Apply two coats, following instructions on the label as to the type of primer recommended, if any.

28.   Applying a coat of oil-based polyurethane is also not a good idea because the water-based and oil-based finishes are generally not compatible.

29.   As always, apply thin coats, not thinned-down varnish but thin layers.
