11.   Indonesian authorities have arrested the leader of a pro-democracy party and questioned Pramudya Ananta Tur, a leading novelist, in a widening crackdown on the opposition.

12.   The State Department last week voiced renewed concern at the widening crackdown in Jakarta, citing in particular detained labor leader Muchtar Pakpahan and democracy activist Budiman Sujatmiko.
