11.   KUALA LUMPUR, Sun. - Shoppers looking for bargains in essential items are thronging the Petaling Jaya Old Town wet market which offered the best prices.

12.   KUALA LUMPUR, Mon. - The prices of certain foodstuff were found varying from wet market to wet market in the Klang Valley today.

13.   Meanwhile prices of other essential items remained stable, staying relatively cheaper at supermarkets compared to wet markets.

14.   Neither was it available at the Datuk Keramat, Chowrasta and Pulau Tikus wet markets.

15.   Ong was speaking to reporters after visiting the Bandar Baru Ampang wet market and low-cost flats yesterday.

16.   Only a few fishmongers were operating at the Central, Canning Garden and Buntong wet markets and these were selling freshwater fish and ikan terubuk.

17.   Shoppers had to patronise the Central and Canning Garden wet markets as most of the stalls in the Buntong wet market were closed due to Thaipusam.

18.   Surprisingly, there was no cooking oil available at any of the wet markets today where previously it was sold at the TTDI and Subang Jaya wet markets.

19.   The closing of the Falim wholesale market for the festive celebrations also saw prices of fish go up at the Central and Buntong wet markets.

20.   The Canning Garden wet market and the three major supermarkets - Super Kinta, Jaya Jusco and Ocean - remained closed for the celebrations.
