11.   The French franc was suffering from the prospect of a continued rise in French unemployment and from weak growth forecasts, especially by private institutes.

12.   The dollar began sliding Friday after the release of economic forecasts from the Conference Board, a private institute on US business activity.

13.   The OFCE private economic institute warned in its last survey that such measures might merely weaken growth which was already sluggish.
