11.   For darker stains, rub with mineral spirits followed with a light sanding with fine sandpaper.

12.   If it is simply dull, dirty or dark with age, it may be possible to revive it with mineral spirits or a rejuvenator.

13.   If that fails, rub with fine steel wool and mineral spirits.

14.   If you plan to repaint, wipe just with mineral spirits.

15.   It is recommended to cut boiled linseed oil half and half with mineral spirits.

16.   Mineral spirits will not affect polyurethane, so a rejuvenator is needed for this.

17.   Mineral spirits will dissolve only paint that is still fresh.

18.   Mineral spirits will soften a natural varnish finish so that surface material can be wiped off.

19.   Naphtha is a more powerful solvent than mineral spirits, so less is needed to thin the same amount of paint.

20.   Oil-based paints must be applied to a dry surface, and mineral spirits or thinner is needed for cleanup.
