11.   Romania has signed treaties with Hungary and Ukraine settling border disputes, and the Romanian government now includes two ethnic Hungarians to represent the Hungarian minority in Romania.

12.   The same is true with the Hungarian minority living in Slovakia.

13.   With the exception of the Serbian province of Vojvodina, where an ethnic Hungarian minority lives alongside Serbs, most coexistence has been obliterated.

16.   A Hungarian consulate was opened last week in the city of Cluj, which has a sizable Hungarian minority and ultranationalist Gheorghe Funar as mayor.

17.   A strict language law passed Thursday curbs the use of any language other than Slovak and sets huge fines for violators, heightening tensions with the sizable Hungarian minority.

18.   And Hungary is concerned about the ethnic Hungarian minority in northern Yugoslavia.

19.   Around five percent are Roman Catholics who mostly belong to the ethnic Hungarian minority living in Romania.

20.   Before the talks, Hungarian Foreign Minister Laszlo Kovacs said he would press on for rights for the Hungarian minority.
