11.   If there is no stain, you can use chemical paint remover to remove the varnish, but this is not necessary.

12.   If there is residue of glue left, sand it smooth or remove it with a solvent such as chemical paint remover.

13.   Instead of sanding, you can remove the finish with chemical paint remover, but sanding still is needed to reduce those scratches and nicks.

14.   Normally chemical paint remover will take it off, but that would also take off the paint.

15.   Or, use a chemical paint remover and scrape.

16.   Or, apply chemical paint remover, which will make short work of the finish but not the stain or the burns, so you have to sand anyway.

17.   Or, remove the shiny coating with chemical paint remover, and apply a masonry sealer that does not shine.

18.   Paint is best removed with chemical paint remover or sanding, both of which make a colossal mess, and is miserable work.

19.   Peel-Away and other chemical paint removers, while harsh, will tarnish the copper but will not affect it any other way.

20.   Remove the paint with chemical paint remover.
