11.   As the award is conventional in its nature and cannot in fact compensate for the injury suffered there is no logical reason to take one figure rather than another.

12.   In such cases virtually the whole award would have been for pain and suffering.

13.   The brackets given in the Guidelines should be of value to practitioners and judges by indicating the area within which an award is likely to be upheld on appeal.
