1.   Now taxpayers must pay hundreds of billions of dollars to clean up the mess left by under-capitalised thrifts.

2.   The Government is making the taxpayer pay to fatten up a public sector business for private sale.

3.   Over the years, the British taxpayer has paid hundreds of millions of pounds to provide electricity below cost for British Aluminium to smelt Ghanaian bauxite in Scotland.

4.   Also gone will be the old honor system that allowed taxpayers to pay their taxes in their own good time without fear of punishment or penalty.

5.   Although the federal government pays for most of the primary investigators and cleanup, local taxpayers must pay for the rest.

6.   And cheap, because taxpayers pay the salary of only one elected official.

7.   And taxpayers often pay for at least some of the new and improved stadiums.

8.   And others say fairness prevails when all taxpayers pay the same percentage of their income to the tax collector, whether that would leave them with millions or thousands.

9.   And since most of the victims are uninsured, city taxpayers pay most of the bill.
