1.   All this land was cattle ranches then.

2.   As yet the land is still relatively cheap.

3.   At the other extreme were open villages where the land was divided among a large number of freeholders and smallholders.

4.   But luckily for golf this was cancelled when the land was ear-Marked for a camp site instead.

5.   Clearly here was open land able to absorb vast numbers of people.

6.   Developers were met by angry locals protesting that the land was theirs by right.

7.   High-quality agricultural land is a national resource.

8.   High-rise apartment buildings have gone up where once there was open land.

9.   I can see the land is in good heart, and I remember enough to know the extent of the estates.
